Children's Lessons

Stourport Riding Centre welcomes children aged 4 – 16 of all abilities. We aim to give children of all abilities a deeper understanding of horse riding and care, so all our lessons incorporate pony care. Our vision is to help children have fun and enjoy the learning and responsibility they are given in a safe environment.

Our lesson groups are decided according to the ability of the riders and not age. We strongly believe that pony care is an important part of every young rider’s development. For this reason our lessons consist of half horse riding and half pony care.

Prices

Private lessons are available for off lead rein riders on request. 
 

Lesson Categories

Riding ability is assessed before the first lesson and children are put into the following categories:-

• 5Beginners Lesson
• 4Walk & Trot
• 3Walk, Trot & learning to canter
• 2Walk, Trot, Canter & learning to jump
• 1Walk, Trot, Canter & Jumping

- All lessons are taught by qualified and experienced instructors.
- All staff are CRB checked and hold their British Horse Society Safeguarding and Protection of Children Certificate.
- All full time staff are qualified first aiders.

Adult Lessons
We are pleased to offer adult lessons, usually given on a private or semi-private basis by arrangement. Whether you have never ridden before or simply haven’t done it for years and fancy making a return to the saddle- all abilities are welcome. Please note we do have weight restriction of 13 stone. Prices start from £21.00 per rider.

Junior Senior Lessons
This is a chance for you and your family to enjoy riding together as a leisure activity. The lesson is given exclusively to you on a private basis, allowing adults and children to ride together. We’ve had Mums and Dads, Aunties, Sisters, Cousins, who do you fancy seeing on a horse?! Prices start from £31.00 for one adult and one child.

Enrolment forms must be completed before lessons begin so it is please arrive 15mins before the lesson start time.
